A Message To You From First Baptist Church
Lets be honest, it can be a little bit intimidating to walk into a church for the first time. You do not know very many people yet. You do not know whose seat you might accidentally sit in. You are not sure if your little girl's stomach bug is "completely gone."
At First Baptist you can relax a bit. This is the kind of church where you are going to feel right at home. Seriously, within the first few minutes of walking into the building you will have been greeted by some really nice people who will give you a bulletin. (Bulletin is church lingo for Program Guide.)
We are Baptists. We do what the bulletin says. It is not written by the Holy Spirit, but the Pastor tries really hard to listen to the Holy Spirit while he puts the bulletin together, so you should be safe. We will tell you when it is appropriate to stand. We will tell you when to sit. You will hear parts of the Bible read out loud. You will be invited to sing hymns that our organist will skillfully play. You will not be asked to join a committee or teach a class . . . not yet.
One of the most important parts of the service is the Sermon. It might seem like a really long speech, but we believe it is a little more than that. Our Pastor will do his best to take the truths of the Bible and show you how to apply them to every aspect of your daily life. If you want to hear the sermon again you will be able to go to the church Facebook Page and click on a video link. (If your little girl is still a bit sick you could have her listen to the sermon on the video portion of the Facebook page. She will likely get the rest she has needed.)
Some people will probably shake your hand. Don't worry, they really are happy to meet you. The people at First Baptist are nice like that. If you want to escape quickly, that's ok. If you would like to talk with Pastor Kevin he would be happy to answer any questions you may have. He might even take you out for coffee. He has a mild coffee addiction, but try not to judge him.
We are looking forward to meeting you at First Baptist. Our service starts at 11 AM. We think you are going to like it. If you do, please come back. Bring your friends. We will be just as nice to them as we were to you.
Your friends at First Baptist.
