You Probably Have Some Questions
If you have made your way to this website there is a good chance that you have some questions. We had a feeling that would happen. We have answers. If you are wondering if this church is friendly the answer is: Yes. Very. If you want to know whether or not you will be asked to join a committee on your first Sunday visit the answer is Maybe. Just kidding. We would never do that. If you are wondering if you will find a new group of people who will be the support you have wanted in your life the answer is a resounding YES!
We are not bragging, just brutally honest. You will not find a more friendly bunch of people than the good people of East Troy Baptist Church. We really hope you like us. Before you come, though, we should warn you of what you can expect when you walk through the doors.
Unless you come super early you will find a crowd of people wandering around the Sanctuary (that's the big room where we worship. It is pictured above.) People will be talking, laughing, and catching up on all the things going on in the great metropolis of East Troy. If you are shy you can sit down. There might be some seats in the back. If you are of a chatty nature you can talk with some of the people in the church. They are really nice. They will respect whatever you want to do.
Once the service starts that bulletin that someone handed you when you came in will come in very handy. The bulletin is our program guide for doing "Church" together. We are Baptists. We follow that bulletin like our lives depend upon it. It will tell you when we plan on standing up, sitting down, singing, and all the important instructions you will need.
In the middle of the service Pastor Kevin (He is the guy who talks a lot) will deliver a sermon. A sermon is a long speech that is all about the Bible. He will take a portion of the Bible and explain what it means in modern, every day language. There are some notes that go along with the sermon. They will be shoved inside your bulletin. (That's that program guide we told you about, remember?) In the sermon notes the Bible passages will be listed. You don't need to have a Bible to follow along.
After the service there might be some more commotion. Some people hang around for a few minutes until Sunday School. Sunday School is just like it sounds. People are divided into age groups and they have a class on a Bible topic. Also, the Pastor will leave. Don't take it personally. It isn't something you said, or even something you didn't say. He has to go to the First Baptist Church of Troy and preach there too. If you want to ask him some more questions he is always available to meet you for a cup of coffee.
We look forward to seeing you at East Troy Baptist Church. Our service is at 9:30 AM. We are pretty sure you are going to like us.
